Dilipkumar “Danny” Patel has worked in the real estate industry in the United States since 1986, focusing on the hospitality industry in the Georgia market. Born and raised in Gujarat, India, Danny came from humble beginnings. He immigrated to the United States after attending college in India, and learned the hotel business through hands-on experience, working in a family-owned hotel in Huntsville, Alabama. Aided by the educational programs provided by AAHOA and other hospitality education institutions, he learned development and operational knowledge. After raising money and purchasing his first independent hotel in Montezuma, Georgia, Danny collaborated with Glenn Sawyer, who also functioned as Danny’s mentor. This partnership contributed to the tremendous growth that Danny and his company experienced in the hospitality industry.
Danny is founder and CEO of Peachstate Hospitality (www.PeachstateHospitality.com), a family based hotel development and management company. Peachstate has developed 40 franchised and independent hotels in Georgia and Alabama, with Danny serving as general contractor for 27 of the projects. Danny has gained expertise in all facets of the hospitality industry, including acquisition, construction, planning, development, design, management, and finance. He developed brand affiliations with Marriott, Best Western, Carlson Hotel Group, Intercontinental Hotel Group, and Hilton Hotels. Danny is also a founder of American Pride Bank, a community-based bank that has branches in Macon and Warner Robins, Georgia. He currently serves as the Bank’s chairman.
Danny has spoken at industry conferences for organizations like the National Association of Black Hotel Owners Operators and Developers (NABHOOD), the American Hotel & Lodging Association (AH&LA), and other state level hospitality associations. He has also spoken at and in conjunction with academic institutions such as Vallabh Vidyanagar and Gopal Vidyanagar Universities in India and New York University (NYU) in the United States. Danny has written articles on management and social subjects and been a panelist and moderator at many hospitality educational sessions. He is very active in community service, humanitarian fundraising, and has served on the board of many local and national non-profit organizations. Danny served as Secretary for the LPS of USA and as chairman for the Asian American Hotel Owners Association (AAHOA) in 2007. Danny lives by a very high standard of honesty, integrity, and accountability in all his endeavors.
Danny is currently on the Board and the immediate past Chairman of Best Western International, Inc., which has more than 4,000 independently owned and operated hotels in 100+ countries and territories. The Best Western brand is unique in that properties retain their independence while providing the benefits of an international lodging affiliation with global reservation system, marketing, advertising, purchasing, training, and quality standards.
